[Today, Leon is practically living in one of the battle dome rooms. How many times now had he put off actual combat practice? There had been a few distractions here and there, but he had to admit to himself that a good majority of the time was spent tinkering with symbols and gems in his lab.
When was the last time there had been a large draft? Four months ago? Was that the last time he had swung his sword around for any good reason for more than a few minutes? His lack of practice shows in his awkward test swings. Even with a practice simulation to fight, he's quickly tiring. Claude would probably laugh at the mistakes he was making.
Leon huffs and moves on to Symbology practice, switching from the Claude's Silvance to his own Heraldry blade. Even within the barrier and with the lower augmentation of his sword, he's able to quickly form ice needles and arc black sabers across the room. When he switches to one of his Symbology tomes, he increases his range and covers the walls in a thick layer of ice. And then shatters the ice with a decisive flick of one hand.
--
Later on, towards the mid-afternoon, Leon trudges over to the plaza to go looking for something to eat. First the bakery to check out the pastries for the day, then the coffee shop to order something cold, and then over to the grocery store to grab something for the inevitable midnight munchies.]

[It was an exciting prospect, getting to see what someone from Earth's future could do with the Symbology that he was hoping to make more prevalent throughout the planet.]
[action]
If Sophia ever got to hear about this, she'd probably have a fit. Not for the first time, he wishes his childhood friend was here with him.] You ready, or do you need more time to catch your breath?
[action]
I'll be fine; you've gotten my interest. You want to put something into the simulator so we can get started?
Re: [action]
At least with a simulation we don't have to deal with the heat, right?
[action]
Is that some place off of Earth?
Re: [action]
It's the desert ruins I told you about before. They're on the second planet of the Elicoor system.
[action]
Ah, that's right. The one right next to the kingdom filled with water?
[Now he's even more interested, watching Fayt as he works.]
[action]
After you.
[action]
[But he was speculating into politics more than he really wanted to.
He returns Fayt's smile, glancing at his bag once more before stepping closer to the door to look inside. The simulator's ability to create entire environments was impressive, and he tells himself that he should dabble with its configurations a little more, now that he was visiting the battle dome again.]
[action]
It really was amazing what this thing could do. The harsh, dry desert stretched out before them, rocky outcroppings and distant oasis along with sparse bits of desert vegetation dotting the expanse far into the visible distance. Behind rested the Mosel Ruins themselves, Fayt having decided that the ruins themselves were a bit more interesting than the cave at the other end of this stretch of desert.
He figured as long as they didn't go to the center of the ruins, it was fine to include them as an option along with the desert itself. No telling what they'd find there, simulation or not. This thing had already proven itself to be eerily accurate, having data from Styx of all places.]
[action]
So what brought you through this place? Necessity because you had to travel between countries?
Re: [action]
A peace negotiation, actually. The countries here were at war, but a truce became necessary. We were asked to escort the Queen of Aquaria here. [So maybe it wasn't the whole story, but Fayt didn't want to explain why the Vendeeni decided to show up. The reason the Vendeeni had even bothered the people of Elicoor to begin with was him, after all. He eyeballs the insect like monsters moving in the distance.]
There are tons of monsters, after all.
[action]
...It's definitely an interesting place. [He peers closely at the ruins and runs his fingers along grainy, gritty surfaces with a curious expression.] Especially if it really was made this way as a result of Symbology.
[action]
[Politics weren't his thing at all. Science, however, was.]
Couldn't say if Symbology had much to do with it, but it's definitely a possibility, knowing this place.
[action]
So these monsters... Did you include them in the simulation? [Maybe he should be a little more wary, with that question on his mind.]
[action]
Yeah, I did. [He nods towards the desert, sunblurred forms of monsters moving about in the distance as he places a hand on his sword.]
[action]
I guess we'll get started, then. [He opens his tome at last, spreading his fingers over one page and shutting his eyes briefly. A translucent image of a shield spins into existence before a light barrier encases Fayt in a Protection spell.]
[action]
Once they're almost in range, he runs his hand down the blade, his fingers tracing symbols as he does. The metal frosts over in their wake and ice growing over the length of the blade.] Ready?
[action]
Whenever you are. I'm aiming for the one closest to us!
[And his fingers begin to glow as he concentrates.]
[action]
[action]
Deep Freeze!
[Water particles accumulate and freeze, forming large pieces of ice in only a matter of seconds. He directs the ice boulder to barrage the insect-like creature that Fayt had attacked, taking a moment to breathe before running across the terrain to better situate himself away from the battle.]
[action]
Seeing that the spell made short work of that particular insect, he wastes no time in switching focus to the next enemy, slicing off a grasping claw just as it scuttles close to attack.]
[action]
With the monster's attention temporarily directed away from Fayt, Leon focuses on another Deep Freeze spell.]
