The sky is relatively clear, but the incoming clouds, thick and bright against sky, hint at snowy weather around the corner. It's with that in mind that Leon (

fellpool), Precis (

rocketpunch), and Claude (

mirrorblade) move their belongings from community building 1 to their new house, house 59.

Yep, that's right -- a trek from one side of the village to the other. There will be return trips, breaks, and maybe some unpacking going on today, so there's no shortage of places to see the trio today.

It's while Leon is rolling his teleportaton barrel that his journal falls out of his bag. He doesn't hear it over the sounds of the wood against the ground, but he is able to hear his pet cat meow in complaint behind him.]

What is it, Filia? [The journal may catch the sound of the cat meowing and Leon's footsteps as he walks back.] Man, it fell out again...? I should've just thrown it in one of the suitcases. C'mon, let's go -- this barrel isn't gonna move itself.

Yeah. I've thought about them, but I don't have a strong need for any items, you know? ...I guess that's a little selfish, but that's the incentive they give.

Nah, I don't think that's selfish. I'm sure most people wouldn't want to go on them without that incentive. [Though Atsuro's been rather curious about going on one, and even more so with the thought of getting glorious computer equipment out of it..]

There's always those anti-shifting bracelets though, aren't there? Those could come in handy.

I guess that's a way to look at it. Aim for something that requires a lot of points, and then spend them if something else comes up.

Yep, exactly! So in that respect, it's worth it. And something like that could really help out with the more drastic experiments, you know?

Er.. well... Maybe embarrassing is a better term for it... Though I've heard that the moon fell during one of them before I got here, and that sounds pretty drastic to me. [Not that some bracelet is going to protect someone from that, but still.]

Oh. [Embarrassing was much more understandable when it came to the experiments.] Yeah, the moon falling was pretty ... drastic. Halloween tends to have pretty terrible experiments.

Drastic sounds like an understatement, really... Are they really always that bad though? I've head that Halloween and Valentine's Day had the worst ones...

Let's just say that my first Halloween here involved giant spiders and vampires running amok in the village. [Hopefully that gets the point across.]

What...?! Geez... I'm starting to feel like it's useless to even hope that this Halloween will be a peaceful one.

Is Halloween ever actually a peaceful holiday? It sounds like it's supposed to be scary in some way.

Well back at home it's pretty peaceful. Everyone just hangs out with their friends and goes trick-or-treating. The things people do to scare each other are just for fun and games, and they're generally not as insane as dropping moons and letting real vampires run around.

Like ringing on doorbells and-- what was it called-- "ding dong ditch"?

I never really did that much myself, but yeah, people would do that. A lot of them would do it even when it wasn't Halloween though.

Really? [That's something new. The way Gold had talked about it, it seemed like it was for Halloween.] So it's more of a typical prank?

Pretty much. I've had it done to me plenty of times, so... [..not so much after Keisuke came in but.] It's just done more frequently during Halloween, since everyone's going door-to-door and ringing the bells anyway.

Sounds like it would actually be more expected during Halloween, when you put it that way.

Haha, yeah... People don't do that here though, do they? Or even trick-or-treating in general, for that matter.

Not that I'm aware of. We're usually plagued with some experiment or another by the time Halloween rolls around.

I figured as much. It's always fun to do those sorts of things on Halloween though, so that's kinda a bummer.

Yeah. I'd like to experience a real Halloween one of these days. Not just ... experiments leading up to the day, and then recovering on the actual holiday.

What if people just celebrated it on another day? It wouldn't be the traditional date, but at least then we could enjoy Halloween without an experiment.

That's an idea. We were gathering pumpkins well before the actual holiday, so the same could be done with candy, too. ...Something to suggest towards next fall.

Yeah, that could work! It's... probably a bit too soon to think too much about it now, but we could figure something out when the season comes around.
